If you’re here come and say hello, if you’re not get your self together…
As part of the Barbican’s ‘Do Something Different Weekend‘ a party is being held based on the theme of ‘transformation’, so what better than a FASH MASH PARTY.
Using collective skills and materials Crafternoon will work with you to customise and transform unwanted articles and garments that could have otherwise ended up in a landfill into DIY individualised fashions and art – for free.
The raw materials (including fabric glue, sewing kits, spray paint, scissors, fabrics and old clothes) to help you mash the fash are available, but have a rummage through your own cupboards. Be resourceful and inventive – from homewares to shoes to old T-shirts and trousers to broken jewellery, fabric scraps, and unwanted children’s toys – as long as it’s clean it can be used.
Activities in the Barbican include:
– The styling station: be personally styled imaginative ways – then striking a pose for the camera!
– Cut up ‘n’ keep + Fun with fabric!: get creative with scissors and layer up… slash, crop and tear! Make crafty cards and collages too.
– Graffit-tees: paint and all manner of messy materials to customise with… spray, stencil, splatter and stamp.
– Access-orise all areas: embellish and ornamentalise brooches, bracelets, necklaces and more!
– Sew hot right now: hand stitch and sew cushions, bags, scarfs and jumper monkeys.
The Gaggle DJs will provide a musical mash up throughout the party and there will be lots of games and catwalk fun.
Sat 5th 11am – 10pm (break from 6-7) & Sun 6th 11am – 6pm
Don’t go throwing anything away; keep it, bring it.
