The spring Jane Davidson Fashion Show was titled:
There’s so much to LOVE.
There were 11 sections to the show which was held on the first floor of their city centre store in Edinburgh, Thursday, 10th Feb. Not exactly #LFW scale but the labels on the catwalk certainly were.
The attendees consisted almost entirely of Ladies that Lunch – sipping champagne in their cliques not daring to even sniff the petit fours and mini ham sandwiches, wearing their best “last seasons” attire with lots of “Oh Hello, what fun to see you here!” You may think I’m mocking them – not in the slightest, I love this group of attendees – oh to be one…
Pringle started the mixed up capsule collections with a cream and rose shift see through dress, spring patterned with another following in a 2 tone in cream and navy; the same section also had a jeans, a skinny T and jersey twin-set.

J Bateau – (who?) crinkly T and skinny jeans followed by: White Jeans with a Breton long sleeve T, which I suspect we’ll see versions of in Primark to Matallan.

J Brand jeans – Jersey Jacket 3/4 sleeve – sludge – AGAIN! Missoni quickly followed in a halterneck Jumpsuit – a brave purchase for anyone. The maxi dress however was a great introduction although again with the sludge colours… this is spring, we were looking for colour!

The “Red Valentino” blouse jean combo was frankly M&S with a different label…
Beautiful dress by David Meister – class act – you have to love some serious tailoring and in navy – you can’t go wrong.

The lime green (not emerald as suggested) was also a winner – the peach one had a bow detail across the tummy – woops – big mistake – hello lets emphasise where we all have a bulge…
Pringle appeared again – this time the tailoring was great – confident underarms required a beauty of a black shift dress. The oversized white shirt was a surprise but a very welcome one – a real winner with simple peddle pushers in black.
The LBD was in evidence with the Armani element – your height will determine whether you can get away with it though – no room for short girls – all the detail was on the hem – a real beauty though.
The Armani tailored jacket looked unusually odd in it’s cut – possibly a size issue for the model, with white sleeveless shirt and breeks, great combo. The glittery jacket that followed was a classic Armani. Rouched Armani coral dress – distinctly ok had big elements of Chris Bailey (Burberry) on all of it.
Armani tailoring left me a bit cold, beautiful fabrics but not up to his usual standard.
The Halston Jersey dresses leave little room for error – girls your girdle will show through… but wow if you have the figure jaws will drop (Burberry influences on the rouching and wrapping – again).
The silk print shift from Erdem was stunnning, cream with poppies on a lake and something the red and green Erdem one however left me cold. – the Ecru print was dull byond words.
However we all love a bit of glam – the Koala dress made me look twice, stunning in a rosewood silk 2 different cuts, one with a rose on the hip equally gorgeous.
The David Meister taffeta dress in coffee was glorious, the cut is going to very sympathetic to any number of sizes…
I could go on here but by now your getting the picture – a mixed up jumble of glorious pieces with some sludge and frankly high street with an expensive label – but you know what, it’s a store that buys for its good customers so that’s not to be sniffed at.
The one major criticism I would have about this Jane Davidson Fashion show is the jumble in which it appeared – what I mean to say is, let’s keep all the casual together, the tailoring and then the glamour otherwise fabulous! They clearly know how to put on a show and a professional group of able bodied assistants and support acts.
