Talk to any stylist worth their salt and they’ll tell you, less is more and mix your wardrobe with, High Street, Big Brand, Classics and Seasonals – so what of the vintage pieces. We’re hearing it more and more – Vintage is the way forward – clearly if looking back was the way forward we’d all be going round in circles… however that said they are a real treasure trove. You’re almost always guaranteed to find something not only unique but really well priced too. Sometimes the pieces need a little bit of TLC but more often than not they hit the mark – I’ve compiled a short list for the UK shoppers:
Armstrongs Vintage Clothing and Accessories Emporium
Circa Vintage
Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair
Frock Me, Chelsea
Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair
Martha’s Closet
Natasha Bailie
Vintage Market Place
Vintage Vogue – The Essex Vintage Fashion Fair
Of course nothing quite beats actually going into a store to have a good rummage around – most of the examples above are London based, one is Trowbridge but the biggest one is in Edinburgh – Armstrongs Vintage, they have 3 stores it is a family business that is now in the hands of the next generation. Is it their time? I suspect they’re in a great place to further develop the offer and I wish them every success.
