I found a local boutique who are really pushing the boat out and I can’t help but adore their passion. GODIVA
After finishing an early meeting I was walking past one day when the store was opening; introduced myself to the owner, Fleur; I had a wee rummage around a really eclectic mix of product. There are one off’s and capsule collections from local fashion students to sweet pieces by Rowanjoy (owners sister?) as well as toile blocks that can be reproduced in your fabrics of choice. At the back of the store there was a range of seconds from bygone years (it took me back to being a student).
I recently learnt that they’re now selling online which can be found here: Godiva Boutique which is a great idea and really compliments the core business.
One of the other things they’ve been doing is holding impromptu fashion shows – how cute is this – in someone’s house
My only concern for the store was there was so much going on I couldn’t tell some of the products from the props, it’s all a bit scatter-gun for my taste – but then Fleur calls her store “Edinburgh’s most original independent fashion boutique” of that statement you can be in no doubt. It is extremely unlikely that you’ll find something that you’ll wear to a party and someone else has the same dress on. If you like cookey with flair and high street price tags this is definitely the place for you.
