I guess by the very name of this blog, The Social Tailor you’ll know that we have an interest in tailoring and not just catwalk and high street attire.
A good friend of mine Hugh MacLeod introduced me to the world of social media and social objects around 2005 – he’d been blogging since 2000 or thereabouts. One of Hugh’s projects at the time was that genius tailor of Saville Row (and beyond) Thomas Mahon. Now Thomas is no Oswald Boateng (who incidently has his place) Thomas comes from the school of age old tradition handed down through generations of craftsmanship using perfected methods of cut, drape and stitch to provide that perfect balance of fit for purpose, beautifully presented.
The reason I mention Thomas is the language he uses to differentiate between a blog and a website – he completely gets why a business needs both:

Another point I should add – this current trend for the wide lapel on the single breasted jacket is just wrong – the notched lapel provides that slimming streamlined appearance to the jacket – the belief that the wide lapel widens the appearance of the shoulder has merit but its place is on the double breasted jacket.
