So, my designer and I met the Brand Manager, Chairman of the Board, Design / Cutting Room Manager and a willing model (an elegant member of staff draughted in to wear and showcase some previous seasons pieces that could be remodelled.
I should maybe explain that “The Social Tailor” has been brought in to submit new designs in the style of previous collections and of a similar sizing grade and because this was our first collaboration with this manufacturer every element has to be just right. We also had to learn to what extent the information had to be submitted – i.e. not just in “CAD” (computer aided design) but also the pattern cutting and stylised drawing to depict fabric flow / cut and styling – and for a 25 / 30 piece collection that’s a huge amount of information to get through in a day!
So every piece required serious amount of attention to detail whether cut, fabric choice, detailing, fastenings… you name it – plus my designer also had to create a number of completely new pieces to fill gaps in the collection. You notice I’m not giving too much away at this point… One of my major concerns is having found some sources to provide fabric that they can provide enough cloth lengths in time to produce each piece for us to view before we visit Lithuania early January to see the samples come off the production line… they will inevitably require tweaking before they are ready for the photo-shoot 2nd week in January.
If you are an established fashion blogger there will be an open invitation to attend the photo-shoot of this new collection – so you can be in at the beginning and share the journey as we take it to market… Feel free to drop me a line, contact details are on this site.
