Patrick Kinmonth and Antonio Monfreda are the ones responsible for putting the career of Valentino Garavani (yup that’s his full name) online as a Virtual Museum dedicated to his life’s work. They wanted to create something that could only be experienced online. It has been the idea of Giancarlo Giammetti’s for quite some time. He is Valentino’s partner of the last 5 decades.
The content will be extensive and in one particular area Valentino himself will regularly provide video masterclasses – it’s a great and exciting project.
The content will definitely inspire future generations; the sketches, the detailed annotations in his draft books and the couture pieces with zoom options to study the cut, drape and stitch lines.
So where can we find it?
The launch will be October 2011 – so sit on your hands boys and girls we’ve got a bit of a wait ahead of us… Can I recommend in the mean time there’s a great article in this months (September 2011) Wallpaper Magazine (physical) that provides a great insight into what you can expect.
