FARRELL CLOTHING

I think it’s quite interesting that Robbie Williams has a vested interest in the design of a menswear range where he talks about the influence of his Grandfather as the guiding light for the focus and direction. He has said: ‘He (Farrell, his grandfather) was concerned that being brought up by two women (Mum and sister), I was going to be soft for life.’ Erm, have you read his book? Robbie you are a big soft lad! Faced with that dilemma of being so soft the American market just didn’t get him and yet doing his best to seem like a ‘lads-lad’ by being covered in “trash stamps” and being an investor in Port Vale football club…

It’s no doubt that Robbie is full of contradictions, however first impressions of the brand are very good – the subtlety of hiding any mention of the label throughout the clothing and being all about the tailored cut is a brave choice but also a relief. If you look at “Pretty Green” the label supported by Liam Gallagher and a very camp looking Paul Weller which supports that “edgy street” culture of wearing your label on your sleeve (metaphorically) Farrell is definitely one to watch – The range is released in September through House of Fraser and Very.co.uk.
